MSc Sport Management
Sport is a truly global and rapidly expanding industry that unites commercial, public and third-sector stakeholders. Our master's in Sport Management gives you the skills and knowledge to work in this exciting arena.
This programme has a broad appeal. It will interest students with a background in sport who want to learn about the business side of sport, but will equally appeal to students with some business and management knowledge who want to specialise in the particularities of the sport industry.
Our MSc Sport Management is co-taught by the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (currently ranked 1st in the world for sport-related subjects, QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020) and the School of Business and Economics (a triple accredited and leading UK business school). Our teaching is informed by internationally leading research and will develop your skills in marketing, organisational management, finance and accounting. It will also provide thorough analysis of the key strategic challenges facing sport, and the impact of sport on wider society.
Our academic staff are renowned internationally and have conducted research for a range of respected organisations including Sport England, Premier League and Football League clubs, the International Olympic Committee and the European Commission.
Key study areas include global sport marketing and media, sport policy governance and law, economics of innovation in the sport industry, management of human resources, research methods and skills for sport managers, accounting, strategic management, and more.
You will address topics such as professional sport marketing strategies, new sport policies, and the governance of sport federations. You will develop strong team working skills through regular group work and will have the opportunity to experience applied elements of the degree. Combined, these experiences will equip you with the skills needed for a successful career in the global sport industry.
With strong links between the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences and various sport management practitioners across the UK, we host guest speakers who present interesting and relevant insights and provide opportunities for you to network with key players in the sport industry.
