BBA Finance

Finance is the management of money, and since nearly every business needs to make money, Finance is the backbone of any business. With this in mind, Marshall University’s Brad D. Smith Undergraduate School of Business offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Finance. Located in Huntington, West Virginia, our bachelor’s program in Finance will prepare you to pursue careers or graduate studies in banking, business, investments or corporate finance. You’ll learn cutting-edge technology in the field, and enhance your skills gathering and analyzing financial data.

The Finance bachelor’s degree emphasizes solid practical and theoretical knowledge in the areas of financial risk management, international finance, corporate finance, investments and financial policies and strategies. As a finance major, you will study how companies have performed in the past to predict how they will perform in the future, and learn how to communicate information that will drive strategic changes.

Our Finance bachelor’s degree prepares you to plan, manage and analyze the financial and monetary aspects and performance of business enterprises, banking institutions or other organizations. A bachelor’s degree in Finance typically includes instruction in principles of accounting, financial instruments, capital planning, funds acquisition, asset and debt management, budgeting, financial analysis and investments and portfolio management.

Though you’ll need to be good at mathematics, you also must be good and talking with people and making friendly conversation on a variety of subjects. Education, intelligence and personality are all taken into account for finance jobs. With any job in Finance, you must be diplomatic and consider your organization’s or client’s goals, resources and options when discussing their options for financial growth and well-being.
