BA (Hons) Global Studies and History

Global Studies at NTU will give you the opportunity to focus on developing an understanding of social, cultural and political changes and how this affects global trends and tensions. Our History degree will provide you with an understanding of diverse peoples, nations and ideas from medieval and early modern right through to contemporary history within Britain and across to the Americas, Asia and the Far East. 94% of History students would recommend studying at NTU (NSS 2020). GLOBAL STUDIES at NTU will allow you to study a variety of world views surrounding intercultural communications, globalised media and world cities. You’ll gain a well-rounded knowledge of the global dimensions which affect social, cultural, political and economic issues. The course investigates the inequalities that are posed and are being posed into developing countries and through this you'll recognise global trends and tensions. This diverse course will allow you to engage with the world as a global citizen whilst supplying you with the tools to succeed in the growing international workplace. HISTORY at NTU offers exciting opportunities to discover and understand the past through a range of skills and approaches. This course offers a diverse curriculum, covering periods from AD 700 to the present day. The academic team at NTU teaches specialist modules informed by their own research specialisms. This course will develop and deepen your understanding of diverse peoples, nations and ideas stretching from the medieval period right through to modern and contemporary history.This joint honours degree will allow you to possess well-rounded skills which are actively sought after by employers such as; interpersonal skills, creativity, imagination, independent learning and an open mind. The Global Studies aspect of this degree will enhance your global citizen competencies which are needed to work in international institutions and various fields of languages. You'll also be able to spot global trends, international cultures and how the world is interconnected. You'll be able to analyse various forms of communication such as; non-verbal, spoken, unconscious communication and global communication. Our History degree encourages you to become more passionate about the subject, be focused and intellectually curious. Both subjects will help enhance your communication skills and will help you to become more analytical about the world we live in. 92% of History joint honours students are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2016/17). Many recent graduates from this course have pursued careers within public relations, armed forces and the media.
