BA (Hons)/BSc (Hons) Communication, Media and Culture/Sociology
This is a joint honours course, where you study Communications, Media and Culture alongside Sociology. Communications, Media and Culture is structured around the three key themes of communication, media and culture in contemporary society and will develop your skills as an effective communicator. You can specialise in one theme or engage in all three, according to your interests and career ambitions. Oxford is a media and communications hotspot. It is home to numerous cultural institutions, has a flourishing new media industry, and is one of the world’s leading centres for publishing. Sociology studies human social life, groups and societies. A wide-ranging subject, it analyses social relationships and social institutions, and the ways in which they shape people’s lives. Sociologists focus on many topics, ranging from global social processes to changing identities and personal relationships. Studying sociology will increase your knowledge and understanding of the social world in the 21st century. Our flexible course allows you to pursue your own areas of interest within the subject.
