BA (Hons) Psychology with Foundation
The following course information is for students applying for entry in September 2023. If you're looking to start a similar course in September 2022 at Year 1 (Level 4), refer to BSc (Hons) Psychology.
With the changes and challenges of our age - pandemic, war, new technologies -
comes the need for a challenger education in psychology. What better time to study the mind, mental health and human behaviour than in the context of the rapidly evolving social, economic, technological and cultural world we live in.
BA (Hons) Psychology at Regent's offers an exciting learning environment, giving you
the freedom to think about what psychology is and what it means to you. You will discover vastly different ideas and concepts in psychology - some familiar and some new - from traditional science to the wilder edges of philosophy, fact and fiction in a postmodern world.
You will gain a rich education in classical and contemporary psychological theories, engage in debates about the art and science of psychology, and reflect on how we make sense of how people think, feel and interact with the world.
Through a high level of support and feedback from psychologists, academics, experts and industry guests, the BA (Hons) Psychology offers an agile and networked learning environment, where diversity and inclusion are at the heart of a creative and contemporary curriculum.
With practice-based opportunities in London and industry and enterprise placements and projects, this distinctive course offers a bespoke journey of learning through the classroom and into the real world.
You will emerge with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make a positive difference in working with people in the future - whether through onward postgraduate study; in creative, business, or HR work environments; or through further training towards a career as a psychology practitioner. You will have the support and the freedom to think through your options with imagination and creativity.
In your Foundation year, you'll gain a solid grounding in academic skills and principles, as well as an introduction to your chosen subject area.
It will provide a rich and varied experience to ensure you're prepared for degree-level study in the UK - ready to develop specialist knowledge and confidently make the most of your course.
Some modules will be taken with students heading towards the same or related subject areas, while others will be taken with a blend of students - enabling you to mix with peers who bring a range of different perspectives and experiences to the classroom.
You'll take two modules related to your subject area and eight shared modules covering key skills like communication, critical thinking, cultural understanding, politics, data, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Once you've successfully completed your Foundation year, you'll directly progress to Year 1 of your chosen degree-level course.
This course is subject to validation.
