If you’re looking to become a solicitor or barrister, you’ll need a recognised law qualification. The full-time LLM in Law offered by the University of Bolton’s School of Law is suitable for law graduates, non-law graduates, and practicing lawyers.

What Can I Do With This Qualification?

The LLM is not a direct route to qualification and you’ll still need to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) (for non-law graduates) or Legal Practice Course (LPC), but there is an increasing demand in the wider public and private sectors for professionals who have an advanced understanding of specialist legal areas. For instance, HR professionals will benefit from a strong understanding of contemporary employment law in the UK and abroad. Many in the medical profession will find advanced knowledge of medical law essential to their success. Aspiring business leaders and financial experts will also find knowledge of corporate, financial and trade law invaluable during their careers.

This qualification can help you to gain entry to Legal Practice Course (LPC) if you wish to become a solicitor and The Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) if you wish to become a barrister. An LLM can also be a stepping stone to a PhD.
