MSc (PGDip PGCert) Cyber Security

Cyber Security MSc provides an understanding of the latest advances in information security with an emphasis on protecting businesses against cyber criminals.

By applying theoretical knowledge to real case studies, you will learn how to critically assess the most prominent information security threats, vulnerabilities and risks to different information systems and networks.

Using appropriate techniques and methodologies you will specify and design secure information systems and document the development process. You will also learn to assess legal, ethical, social and professional information security issues related to the day-to-day activities of organisations.

Research informs your learning and you will have access to specialist facilities such as our research labs, security lab and Internet of Things lab. You can work alongside researchers in our Centre for Secure, Intelligent and Usable Systems (CSIUS) to develop your research skills and be part of projects relevant to the latest research and challenges in information security.

You will learn through a combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops – both student-led and practical sessions. All modules have research-driven content and use a carefully selected mix of teaching methods and assessment to support you and help guide your independent learning. You will also acheive PGCert and PGDip awards in this course.
