**Course Overview**- Our Clinical Dental Technology degree is a unique and innovative clinical dental technology course, which will allow you to train as you will practice in the future, as part of the whole dental team.- The course gives you the opportunity to train as a clinical dental technician who can work within dental technology and primary care dentistry as a clinical dental technician. Primary care dentistry is delivered by the whole dental team, of which clinical dental technicians are an increasingly important part.- The structure of the course is exciting and innovative in that our BSc Clinical Dental Technology, BSc Dental Therapy and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses share common modules. The decision as to the approval of a new programme for dental care professionals will not be made until the first cohort has completed their studies and examinations, or assessments, and the programme inspected by the GDC. The recommendations of the panel must then be considered by the Registrar.- We employ a number of teaching methods to teach you the various aspects of clinical dental technology. There is a great emphasis on clinical experience to develop clinical skills, initially by working on manikins in the dental clinic. Working with actors assists in the development of communication skills. Knowledge is developed by traditional lectures and tutorials as well as Problem Based Learning (PBL) where you work together to develop an integrated knowledge of how the body functions in Health and Disease. We use a variety of methods for assessment such as short answer, single best item and short note questions.
