MRes Sports Biomechanics & Rehabilitation

University of Dundee

Sports Biomechanics looks to optimise human performance, reduce injury risk, and contribute to the rehabilitation and clinical management of athletes and clients. You will gain comprehensive, critical knowledge and understanding of both classical theory and models as well as selected specialised and current issues relevant to biomechanics and rehabilitation within human movement analysis, sport, exercise, health, and the clinical environment. All students will have the opportunity to develop expertise in the practical use of state-of-the-art biomechanics equipment related to human movement and performance, as well as associated software platforms for measurement, analysis, and modelling of data.

You will benefit from a wide range of teaching, learning, and assessment modes with an emphasis on practical skills and the use of technology. As this is an MRes, you will have meaningful ownership over your own studies though our staff will supervise and mentor work packages and research projects covering a wide range of relevant topics. You will also have the flexibility to specialise in the area you are most passionate about.

Graduates will be able to use their skills and knowledge to:

  • successfully increase their level of integration of sport, biomechanics, and rehabilitation within their respective professions and disciplines
  • contribute to multi- and interdisciplinary teams in sports teams, sports and exercise, clinical treatment, rehabilitation, and other settings
  • undertake a variety of work appointments and further advanced study opportunities if desired

Employers look for individuals who can work independently and deliver a research-focused approach to research, business, and/or practice. This course will teach you how to be an effective researcher and critical thinker, alongside transferable skills for any future career.

Specific future careers may include:
