Join us on an intellectual journey through the past. You will combine modules in both disciplines of history and human rights to examine how ideas of human rights have developed historically. You will explore topics with profound links between history and human rights, such as colonialism, democracy and slavery. Rest assured you're in good hands; our senior Human Rights scholars have held – and continue to occupy – key positions in the United Nations, human rights and development fields. Likewise our Department of History has developed a strong research and teaching profile, with a strong focus on public and social history. Our course gives you the opportunity to experience both disciplines and to graduate with a strong competence in history and the study of human rights. You spend your third year studying abroad allowing you to experience other cultures and languages, to broaden your degree socially and academically, and to demonstrate to employers that you are mature, adaptable, and organised.
