About the University
The University of Essex is a research institution located in the English county of Essex.
The university has a international reputation due to its excellent research and alumni. It was named University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards in 2018. It has also won the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education twice.
It has a TEF Gold Award and ranks 40th in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Rankings 2021.

There are student living options at both the Colchester and Southend campuses, offering a community atmosphere and friendly home-from-home. Moreover, all accommodation is within easy reach of university facilities.
The university offers a range of state-of-the-art facilities for its students. These include communal study areas, a brand new student centre and library extension as well as specialist laboratories. The Essex Sport Arena, air-conditional gym spaces, tennis courts and a climbing wall form part of the sports facility offering at the University of Essex's campuses.
The university has a large proportion of international students, making the student body a diverse collection from over 132 countries. The Students' Union has been host to major musical artists, and runs a variety of societies and sports clubs.
A wide range of opportunities to get involved with sport contribute to overall health and wellbeing on campus. There are more than 40 clubs covering sports including football, rugby, American football, netball and cricket, cheerleading and ultimate frisbee.
