BA (Hons) Drama and Performance Practice

Why Drama and Performance Practice?

Our Drama and Performance Practice degree enables you to build practical techniques and theoretical knowledge in acting, directing, creative collaboration, research, arts management and drama teaching. You’ll learn about the full range of theatre from classical acting to improvisation, physical theatre to contemporary digital performance. With opportunities to gain experience working in settings including Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre and Gloucester's King's Theatre, as well as at venues like the Wilson Art Gallery and the National Trust’s Croome Court, our graduates stand out from the competition. You can even take a show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and learn from Broadway actors and directors on a trip to New York City (additional costs may apply, see course web page for details). You’ll draw on the expertise of experienced professionals, gaining an array of practical skills in voice, movement, relaxation techniques, singing, stage combat and acting for camera. The academic programme is also supplemented by specialist workshops in areas such as commedia dell'arte mask performance, TV drama, clowning and radio acting. Learning in our purpose-built performing arts centre, you’ll take advantage of state-of-the-art facilities including drama and dance studios with full lighting rigs, a multimedia theatre studio and an acoustically designed music and singing room.
