Why Cyber and Computer Security (with placement)?

Our Cyber and Computer Security degree prepares you for a career in cyber security, as you become an expert at defending against malware, viruses and hacking. You’ll learn to identify security breaches and implement solutions using the latest tools and techniques, developing skills in penetration testing, malware identification and ethical hacking. You’ll cover network design, information security and operating systems security, focusing on Windows, MAC OS and Linux. Optional modules even allow you to specialise in subjects ranging from data analytics to digital crime scene investigation. With opportunities for work placements with firms such as IBM Security and Intel, our graduates stand out from the competition. You’ll draw on the expertise of lecturers with extensive industry experience and learn from inspiring guest speakers from organisations like Hewlett-Packard and the Intellectual Property Office. There’s also the chance to work on live business cases and study the cyber environments of banks, high-security digital environments, ecommerce and social media platforms. Taking advantage of cutting-edge facilities including a dedicated cyber security lab, you’ll use industry-standard technology and software such as AccessData FTK and Cellebrite.
