BSc (Hons) Urban Planning

University of Gloucestershire

**Why Urban Planning?**Our Urban Planning degree will equip you with the knowledge and skills to help address the urban challenges of the 21st century, in a rapidly changing global context. With input from city, town, rural and strategic planners from a range of local, national and international organisations, our course has been designed to meet the contemporary and future needs of industry and society. These strong links with industry will also give you valuable opportunities to prepare for your graduate career, such as awards, intern positions, live challenges, guest lectures and employability skills workshops. You’ll study the factors and forces shaping the urban environment, the role that planning can play in developing and renewing urban areas, and reconciling competing and conflicting interests. Focusing on a range of scales and contexts, you’ll learn to understand, plan and design for functional, aesthetic and sustainable spaces. You’ll work in a super studio environment, participating in projects with students and academics from a range of related disciplines, including architecture, interior architecture and quantity surveying. This unique learning approach will give you the sort of collaboration, design and innovation experience you’ll need to succeed in your future professional role. **Why University of Gloucestershire?**We’ve been using our expertise to support and inspire students since 1847. Join us and you will benefit from professional-standard facilities in the beautiful, historic surroundings of Cheltenham and Gloucester. Our vibrant and tight-knit community of over 10,000 students and staff paired with a wide variety of courses means you will have the best of both worlds – a diverse community of sports clubs, societies and activities while also benefiting from specialist lecturers who value you as an individual. Who Cares? We do. We care about our students and the planet. We listened to what our students value most, turning our prospectus digital and providing opportunities for them to protect the planet and move on to study in an environment that works hard to support future generations. As a result, we’re proud that the University of Gloucestershire has been judged the UK’s most sustainable university. Our students never tire of finding inspiration here in the dynamic county of Gloucestershire, home to over 45 festivals every year, including 2000trees, Wychwood and the world-famous Cheltenham Literature festival. Many students gain valuable skills and experience working at these events alongside their studies.**After the course**Your story with us doesn’t end at graduation. Through our innovative Your Future Plan scheme, you will be supported to become the graduate that you want to be, making industry connections and taking part in placements and field trips that offer invaluable experience outside of the lecture theatre.
