LLM International & Commercial Law

University of Greenwich

The LLM focuses on the law and legal framework underpinning the international community, as well as legal issues affecting trade and global markets. Knowledge of world trade - and the legal framework surrounding it - has never been more important. Legal employers now place a high premium on graduates with international commercial law skills. On this course, you'll look beyond national jurisdictions and get to grips with the issues of public international law and international commercial law. In addition, this course has a new pathway on Business, Human Rights & the Environment which is the first comprehensive course of its kind in the UK and Europe to address the impact of business activities on human rights and the environment. You'll be assessed through coursework, class presentations and a dissertation, so you acquire a broad range of skills.

Graduates may take up careers with international institutions or non-governmental organisations, or pursue further research or academic careers. Graduates of the LLM's Business, Human Rights & the Environment pathway will be well-placed to pursue a range of careers both within and outside the sphere of commerce, business, human rights and the environment. This includes careers with non-governmental organisations, charities, government agencies, regional and intergovernmental organisations such as the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the European Union or other international bodies.
