MEd Educational Leadership
The Master of Education in Educational Leadership prepares graduates to work as deans, principals, directors, superintendents, or other school administrators. Coursework for this program can be applied to fulfill the requirements of the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
University of La Verne’s master’s degree program in educational leadership is designed to develop emotionally intelligent leaders who value the importance of building a supportive school site team of staff, teachers, parents, and the community to work together for the benefit of the students. The program’s coursework, field experiences, and classroom assignments are directly linked to the real work of school leadership.
Students in the master’s program in educational leadership may pursue both the Master of Education in Educational Leadership and the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential together or the master’s degree only.
The Preliminary Administrative Services Credential is the first level of a two-tiered credential that allows you to work in the state of California as a school administrator. Students who complete the requirements for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential as part of La Verne’s MEd in Educational Leadership program may apply for the Certificate of Eligibility at the conclusion of the program. Our program is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Effective school leaders are in high demand. Employment of elementary, middle, and high school principals is projected to grow 8 percent from 2020-2030, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
