MEd Special Emphasis
The Master of Education Special Emphasis allows educators and others who want to shape the future of California’s youth, families, and communities to customize a program to a specific area of interest or a professional goal.
The MEd Special Emphasis program is specifically designed to meet the needs of California’s diverse student body, emphasizing language development, cultural diversity, and humanistic approaches to the learning process. To provide convenience and flexibility, the program is available at multiple campus locations.

With the MEd in Special Emphasis, students are able to map their own curriculum–choosing courses in graduate programs from across the university–to dig deeper into the subjects they are passionate about. The program culminates in a project or paper structured to help students improve their instructional and leadership abilities.
La Verne strives to provide the utmost flexibility for working educators pursuing their MEd in Special Emphasis. To accomplish this, MEd classes are scheduled in late afternoons, evenings, or weekends. The program is 33 units, and students may complete the degree in as few as two or as many as five academic years.
