MRes Research Methods in Animal Behaviour

Course description

This postgraduate degree will provide you with advanced training in research methods in animal behaviour, equipping you with the research and professional skills required for a research career.

The Department of Neuroscience, Psychology and Behaviour has particular research strengths in:

  • Cellular and molecular neurobiology
  • Cognitive and behavioural sciences
  • Perception and sensory processing
  • Health and psychological wellbeing

You will be encouraged to undertake a research project in one of these areas.

Teaching and learning

All teaching is seminar based, or in one-to-one tutorial and research supervision sessions, with continuous assessment in the form of a research protocol, oral and poster presentations, and in the development of portfolios of assessed activities. You will write a thesis on original empirical research, which will involve an oral exam (viva).
