BA (Hons) Business and Finance

The BA (Hons) Business and Finance degree at Lincoln aims to equip students with the tools and knowledge to operate in a range of business environments, and to develop a broad understanding of business and finance from an international perspective. The course introduces business and finance theory, including the importance of data analysis, legal knowledge, marketing, and operations. Modules have been designed to enable students to develop the ability to apply learning to practical situations.

Accreditations

This course provides exemptions from elements of examination for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Depending on the exemptions sought, students may be required to undertake specific modules. Other exemptions are achieved upon completion of the course.

Entrepreneurship

Students who wish to start their own business can be supported by Sparkhouse, the University’s on-campus business incubation centre, which offers support to both students and graduates. The facility has helped to establish more than 270 start-up businesses, assisting with office accommodation, mentoring, business planning, and financial advice. Students may also benefit from guest lectures from experienced professionals on personal financial planning, and ethics and integrity.

Student as Producer

Student as Producer is a model of teaching and learning that encourages academics and undergraduate students to collaborate on research activities. It is a programme committed to learning through doing.

Placements

Some courses offer students the opportunity to undertake placements. When students are on an optional placement in the UK or overseas or studying abroad, they will be required to cover their own transport and accommodation and meals costs. Placements can range from a few weeks to a full year if students choose to undertake an optional sandwich year in industry (where available). Students are encouraged to obtain placements in industry independently. Tutors may provide support and advice to students who require it during this process.

Your Future Career

A wide variety of opportunities exist in many areas of business and finance around the world. These include roles in financial management, investment banking, advertising, marketing, e-commerce, human resources, and project management.
