BS/MS Information Science Combined
The continuous growth of information and technology innovation has led to a host of related trends and issues, including social media, security, privacy, digital divide, information literacy, open access, digital curation and more. With the need to address these issues comes the importance of educating a new generation of information professionals who not only have a can-do attitude but are also are flexible, innovative, entrepreneurial and progressive. The BSIS degree prepares students for a career at the intersection of information, people, and technology.
The ALA-accredited Master of Science with a major in Information Science (MS-IS) is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for them to function as information professionals in a variety of information agencies.
This program is offered:
- Completely Online
- In Denton (with a mix of online and face-to-face courses)
- In an off-campus format in Houston
- In the form of cohorts in some states
Each student works with a faculty advisor to create an individualized program reflecting the student’s career goals. The concentrations are intended to prepare graduates to succeed in a wide range of positions and information settings in both private and public organizations

- Knowledge Management
The unique nature of this program, and what sets it apart from other programs that deal with the topic of information, is the approach to the study of information, its behavior, and its use from the point of view of the user
