BA (Hons) Social Care and Community Practice

The Social Care and Community Practice Degree is offered as a three year degree leading to the award of a BA. The degree is designed using real world material that equips students for employment either within Social Care or working with specific communities. Students are taught by academics from a range of backgrounds and work based experiences. The core concepts that are covered in the degree are Human Rights and Social Justice, respecting diversity and key skills required to work with a range of Service Users. Students benefit from a short shadow placement in year one followed by an extended Work based placement and reflective experience in year two. In year three they have a short shadow placement as part of the housing module which will enable students to gain an additional professional certificate from the CIH upon completion. By the final year students are equipped with the skills to work in a variety of Social Care and Community settings, enabling them to be effective Change makers having a truly positive social impact on individuals and communities. Students will have explored, understood and analysed specific service user groups. They will have an assured grasp of the link between theory and practice.
