BA (Hons) Business Management (Social Enterprise)

Not even a global pandemic can stop the momentum of the growing social enterprise movement. With more people driven by a desire to do business differently, our exciting degree develops the skills and expertise to set up your own social enterprise and bring positive change to people’s lives.

This Business Management (Social Enterprise) BA is designed to equip you with essential business knowledge, practical skills in management, teamworking and communication, and a strong understanding of how to adapt this for social enterprise or Third Sector organisations. A series of work-based learning opportunities include the option of a social enterprise virtual internship in your first year. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to attend work-based skills talks and workshops by the University’s Westminster Enterprise Network (WEN).

You will learn both theory and practice, using real case studies to show how ‘impact versus income’ can be converted into ‘impact and income’, and how synergies between competing interests can be harnessed in ways that produce shared good.

Visiting lecturers with practical experience in social entrepreneurship and guest speakers working within the Third Sector will share their first-hand experience of areas like social finance, setting up, running and working in social enterprises and community interest companies.

All of this will help develop the necessary confidence and business acumen to set up your own business or contribute proactively to private business, public or Third Sector organisations. By the time you graduate, we expect you to have tested your business idea and pitched it to relevant stakeholders with the aim of starting up your own social enterprise or working in a capacity to deliver sustainable social change.
