We will support you to realise your potential to become a compassionate, competent and autonomous nurse who is able to deliver and lead mental health nursing care within an ever-changing health and social care environment.You will split your time equally between learning theory on campus and applying your knowledge during placements, practicing alongside other health professionals. You will study a range of academic core (all fields of nursing) and field (mental health-focused) modules based on theory and practice experiences. As you progress through the programme, programme content will become less generic and more specific to mental health nursing.In Year 1, you focus on foundations in nursing knowledge and values, research skills, professionalism and accountability, and promoting Health and Wellbeing.In year 2, you look to further develop your knowledge and skills with potential modules around Values and Engagement in Mental Health Nursing, Therapeutic Interventions in Mental Health and Planning and Coordinating Nursing Care.In your final year you look at preparing for professional practice, leadership and decision making and research to promote quality of care.On successful completion of the programme you will be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, which is the body that monitors and regulates the profession in the UK.As a registered nurse, you will be well prepared to work in a variety of health settings and capable of delivering and evaluating high quality nursing care. You will also be well prepared to interpret and incorporate research into your practice, work across a variety of settings in healthcare and be a future leader in nursing.
