Exams to study in India
Some institutes require students to have specific scores in globally recognised exams.
- English proficiency exams: International students may need to display proficiency in English. These exams include IELTS and TOEFL. These might be optional, depending on the course and institution.

Indian student visa
The Indian student visa is issued for 5 years or the duration of the course, whichever is earlier. Foreign students holding an Indian student visa of more than 180 days are required to register himself/herself with the local FRRO/FRO within 14 days of arrival.
The visa can be extended by providing suitable documentary evidence to the local FRRO/FRO.
