Bachelors Composition

The Composition major trains students to be composers and versatile musicians. It is designed to help young composers develop/find their style/voice and compose out of educated intentionality. The program contains instruction in conducting, electronic music, improvisation, orchestration, theory and history courses. Composition courses include:

All students desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree must audition. Music faculty review auditions for acceptance into each music degree program.

The Composition program has a rigorous and broad curriculum. Graduates are well equipped to compose, perform, and teach. Many graduates also continue their education through graduate school.
