Course overview

You will directly benefit from the expertise of our staff in the School of Arts and Social Sciences. They will ensure that whatever your academic or professional background, you achieve the broadest possible interdisciplinary perspective on empirical research.

You will also benefit from independently pursuing a specialist subject through original research and selected modules.

We aim to give you an overview of key issues in research design and the philosophical foundations of social research.

Who is this course for?

If you want to grow your knowledge and skills as a professional researcher, our Research Methods MSc is ideal.

You might need foundational training for doctoral level research, or you might aim to work in a position that requires you to commission, undertake, or analyse empirical social research.

You will usually have a first degree in an arts or social sciences subject, as well as some experience conducting empirical research. But you may be entirely new to the field.
