MMEd Music - String Pedagogy

The Master of Music in String Pedagogy prepares students to become highly qualified and knowledgeable string teachers who will be prepared to pursue a career in teaching strings in a variety of settings or pursue a doctoral degree.

The curriculum includes:

  • string pedagogy and literature
  • professional practice
  • applied lessons on primary and secondary stringed instruments)
  • and core music courses, i.e. music theory, history, and research methods
  • electives - chamber music, non-degree recitals, etc.

String Pedagogy students will gain critical professional practice experience working in the nationally recognized ISU String Project (large group, small group, and private lessons) as well as through teaching the MusicScores! curriculum at local Head Start preschool sites.
