This pathway is designed to meet Associate in Science Track 1 degree requirements with a concentration in Chemistry. This pre-major pathway is designed to prepare you to transfer at the junior-level into an chemistry or related program at a four-year college or university. Chemistry plays a role in almost everything we do. As a central science, it's closely connected with biology, math and physics. During the course of your studies, you’ll learn about matter and energy down to the molecular level. Courses build a solid foundation in general chemistry and develop your understanding of the scientific method of experimentation, observation and analysis of results. You’ll also gain hands-on experiences in the lab. Often called the “central science,” a degree in chemistry is excellent preparation for careers in a variety of fields, such as pharmacy, environmental sciences, chemical engineering, biotechnology, nutrition, medicine, dentistry and others. If you are fascinated with what makes up matter, how different matter interacts, and how these interactions can be applied to create new substances and solve practical problems, completion of a chemistry degree could be the right choice for you.
