BSc (Hons) Social Sciences with a Foundation Year

COURSE OVERVIEW

If you are curious about what makes societies tick, this multi-disciplinary Social Sciences degree is for you.

The foundation year of this four-year course will introduce you to the key concepts and knowledge you need to progress to the BSc in Social Sciences. Following successful completion of the Foundation Year, students will progress onto Year 1 of the BSc.

The foundation year (level 3) will be delivered by The College, Swansea University (TCSU). Years 2-4 (levels 4-6) will be delivered by the College of Human and Health Sciences.

You will delve into subject areas including anthropology, human geography, economics, law, political science and international relations, psychology, social policy, and sociology, gaining an excellent grounding in the theories and conceptual models underpinning contemporary social science.

You will explore the factors and forces that influence major social issues such as poverty, access to education and healthcare, climate change, and migration and learn to critically evaluate current practice and policy.

Throughout the course, you will develop the exceptional research and analytical skills needed to understand and address the societal issues that affect us all in a rapidly changing social and political environment.
