It addressed the tip of the iceberg while there were many more concerns:
- What we study and where we study are some of the biggest decisions we make in life. How do we empower students to find a course that suits their needs, make an informed decision, and apply confidently?
- Global education needs to be accessible to all. How do we help students fund their studies better?
- We prioritise student needs right from the start to the finish. How do we help in their “settling in” period? How do we help students find a home away from home?

Course search made smarter with Genie!
When we spoke to students and parents, we learnt that navigating through 1000s of courses with no clarity on eligibility or admission prospects was tedious.
Moreover, our counsellors spent an average of 30 minutes per student to find eligible courses based on budget, scores, etc. while also keeping in mind their interests and academic goals.
We wanted to reduce this manual labour on both ends.
So we put our heads together, burned the midnight oil and rubbed the magic lamp for solutions – and the first thing that came out was – Genie!
Genie is an AI-powered system that provides course recommendations based on the student’s admission prospects.
Built on a proprietary algorithm with adaptive AI, Genie takes a good look at academic qualifications, English language test scores, study gap, and regional rules to check eligibility for different courses, and then categorises the results into 3 groups for easy decision-making.
Once the student enters their preferences, qualifications and scores, Genie will list out all the results based on how easy or hard it would be for them to get in. It updates its suggestions in real-time based on the latest data, ensuring that they receive the most current and relevant information.
How long does this take? Well, once the student inputs the details, they’ll get results faster than they can say ‘Genie’. We spent hours building this, so students don’t have to waste any!
The course matches are categorised into 3 distinct groups to help students make an informed decision. The easy to get in group collects all the courses they can easily get into, the give it a try group is a bit harder, and the tough to get in group is the most challenging of the lot. We also provide a breakdown of their eligibility for a better understanding on how they match.
We even took Genie one step further by adding waiver-based filters. Students can improve their options by seeing courses that have lenient English-language requirements, or those that don’t require IELTS or TOEFL in the case that they have already received an English-medium education.
We didn’t just take this at face level. We tested our product with students and it was an instant hit. While we improved the product based on the feedback we received, we also learned how invaluable this creation is for students.
