Cleveland State University is a public research university located in Cleveland, Ohio. Established in 1964, it now houses almost 16,000 students, ten colleges and schools, plus more than 175 academic programs.
A research-intensive institution, students from over 80 countries travel to take advantage of the university's active research programs.
The main classroom building is spacious and well-equipped to house many of the university's lecture halls, classrooms and computer labs. A stand-out feature is the Washkewicz College of Engineering provides laboratories, classrooms, and other facilities for students and faculty in engineering-related fields.
Cleveland State University helps students to find suitable accommodation on campus. There are four residence halls on the main campus and various room styles. Rooms, suites and apartments are all available on campus, and all halls are fully furnished with amenities to choose from that include Wi-Fi, laundry facilities and community kitchens as standard. While the university doesn’t operate any off-campus housing, online resources guide students to the many houses and apartments in the nearby area. Various living-learning communities are available for students who want to live with like-minded students, such as the Engineering LLC and the Honors Program LLC, to name but a few.
In terms of health and fitness, the recreation center is a first-rate fitness center with a swimming pool, basketball courts, and a rock-climbing wall. The Wolstein Center is a multipurpose arena used for concerts, sporting events and more, as it can hold up to 13,000 people.
Access to books, journals and other research materials is easy with the Michael Schwartz Library on campus: the database is as impressive as the back catalog.
Students find a meeting point in the Student Center, with a bookstore, offices for student organizations, dining options and various other services. Students are spoilt for choice regarding extracurricular activities, with over 200 student organizations and a range of club sports teams available to join.
The university hosts various events throughout the year, including homecoming and the Cleveland international film festival, among others. Everyone should feel included at CSU as specific programs are designed to support underrepresented students, such as the Multicultural Student Center and LGBTQA+ Student Services Office.
