BA (Hons) Business Management with Leadership
Course Details
Managing a business is one thing, but leading it takes something special. It takes much more than just managing day-to-day operations in order to realise a profit. This course will help you become the driving force behind a business, enabling you to lead people and develop their talent. We will teach you how to look at businesses from a strategic point of view, enabling you to see all the elements of a business and how to effectively manage and lead them - both within your organisation and your supply chain.
This course offers the opportunity to take a ‘sandwich’ year - a year of paid employment in industry which will build your skills and experience. This is usually taken between the second and third year of your degree, typically making your course four years in total. Students who choose the sandwich route find it helps with both their studies and getting a job after graduation. It can build your confidence, contacts, and of course your CV. Leeds Beckett advertise lots of placement opportunities and provide support in helping you find the right placement for you.
Course Benefits
You will be taught by staff with plenty of leadership experience, as well as those who have studied the subject academically to a Doctor of Business Leadership level. These practitioners have worked in high positions within human resources, and will bring their experience to aid your learning.
There will be the opportunity to undertake a work placement and being based in the heart of Leeds, the northern powerhouse of the region's businesses and economy, you will have access to a number of employers and enterprise expertise within the city.
You'll also be able to enjoy guest lectures by industry visitors. Previous speakers have included John Timpson CBE, owner of Timpson's Shoe Repairs, and human rights fighter Shami Chakrabarti.
Job Prospects
You will have the confidence and ability to establish your own business, join a start-up, or take on a position of higher responsibility in an existing business. You’ll also be well-equipped to launch and lead new projects such as enhancing or expanding an organisation. Employers will be attracted by your skills to lead and motivate staff rather than simply manage them.
