MSc Hydrogeology and Water Management
Our Hydrogeology and Water Management MSc gives you the skills and knowledge to work in the water and environmental industry with a focus on groundwater.
We are currently enhancing our taught programmes to:
provide more industrial context
offer more flexibility and choice
deliver an enhanced educational experience.
About this course
Our Hydrogeology and Water Management MSc focusses on groundwater and hydrogeology. You’ll be provided with the opportunity to understand water and its:
nature
occurrence
characterisation
management
You’ll receive practical and theoretical training relevant to the needs of the water and environmental engineering industries.
What you'll learn
What you'll learn
You will gain skills and knowledge related to key areas of hydrogeology and water management, including:
hydrogeology
hydrogeochemistry
hydraulics of porous media
You’ll also gain advanced knowledge and understanding of:
components of groundwater assessment and instrumentation
hydrostratigraphy
contaminant hydrology
analysis and modelling methods
socio-economic aspects of groundwater.
Your development
On completion of the course, you will have developed intellectual and practical skills relevant to industry including:
apply appropriate mathematical methods for modelling and analysing relevant problems
use scientific principles to develop mathematical and environmental solutions to practical problems
create new products or methodologies by combining ideas from a wide range of sources
planning, executing and reporting research projects
designing water infrastructure schemes
use of instrumentation, IT tools and hydroinformatic technologies.
Accreditation
The course is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) (comprising ICE, IStructE, CIHT and IHIE), as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for students with an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng Honours degree or Accredited IEng (Full) BEng/BSc Honours degree.
