Do you want to help shape the marine industry of tomorrow? Develop a comprehensive understanding of both marine engineering and naval architecture on a course that will ground you in nautical design and mechanics. On our unique degree title, professional accreditation means further training can lead you to gain Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status. When you graduate you’ll be primed for a wealth of careers within the marine industry.You’ll engage in experimental work in excellent laboratories and workshops. You’ll also benefit from an optional 48 week paid work placement. Employment may lead to sponsorship and future employment opportunities* Take advantage of a flexible course. The first year is common with BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering with Composites and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, allowing you to swap courses.* Progress onto the MEng (Hons) Marine Technology at the end of the second year if you are doing well.* Join a course accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), which can lead to Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with further study.* Increase your opportunities with a solid base in mechanical engineering and an emphasis on design, opening up a variety of possible careers.* Lay strong foundations for a successful career using our extensive industry links to secure a paid, one-year work placement. Gain the confidence, real-world know-how and vital industry experience employers are looking for.* Work with the latest industry-standard software, in our high specification laboratories. Both will help you develop a strong understanding of fundamental principles, while honing your skills at the same time.* Access the support you need. The Women in Technology Network (WiTNet) is a support network for all female students in technology and science subjects where women are in a minority. Led by students, and supported by staff, WiTNet helps women get the most from their studies.* Progress to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with further work experience and training - upon graduation you’ll have fulfilled the education requirements.
