Highlights
Clarkson University was founded in 1896 as a private, national research University and a proven leader in technological education & sustainable economic development. The University's main campus in Potsdam is situated on the historic 640-acre wooded homestead of the Clarkson family. Around 257 international students from over 87 countries enrol on competitive courses such as engineering, arts, and sciences every year.
According to Forbes, the University is one of America's top research universities, with The Princeton Review naming it the best-value college. Students benefit from leading resources and academic expertise and experience a personalised learning environment that empowers them to succeed, given the student-to-faculty ratio being only 12:1.
Clarkson University offers on-campus housing to its students, with nearby rental options also appealing to those in higher years. Clarkson University is a four-year residential campus, with most students living on campus throughout their undergraduate experience. The residence halls are updated regularly every year to ensure students have the most modern and comfortable living experience, with community-building programs in place to foster a close-knit feel among students. There are numerous complexes to choose from, all with trendy decor that makes students feel comfortable.
Students can stay in themed communities, such as STEM-focused or wellness-oriented residences. The housing office helps students to find suitable off-campus options in the surrounding area.
There are 240 intramural teams at the University, with sports playing a big part in the campus community feel. Sports teams play at the Cheel Arena for hockey games and events, and there are fitness centres with associated equipment for student use.
Students can access technologically advanced laboratories that empower students with opportunities to conduct hands-on research across numerous disciplines. Engineering students are particularly attracted to the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering because it has advanced laboratories, machine shops, and design studios. The Snell Hall Innovation Hub encourages entrepreneurship and innovation, with students able to use prototyping tools, 3D printers, and business incubation resources.
The library has extensive resources ranging from printed materials and books to quiet study spaces.
If students want to experience a University environment with a thriving social culture, Clarkson University might be right. Students are active on campus, with over 200 clubs and societies reflecting the student body's range of interests and cultures. There are multiple opportunities to play or spectate in University sporting events, with exercise opportunities equally vast for those who enjoy singular fitness activities. Since students live on campus for most of their student journey at the University, the range of campus meal plans is vast. The Office of Student Life creates programs and spaces to foster student leadership development, civic responsibility, and community engagement, with students allowed to pursue all levels of campus involvement.
