Colorado State University was founded in 1870 as the Colorado Agricultural College before becoming the State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. 1957 the Colorado General Assembly approved the change to its current name and it became a university. Today it has around 35,000 students a year including 2,500 international students from 110 countries around the world.

The Global Diversity scholarship is awarded to incoming international students who show a record of academic achievement, leadership potential and the promotion of diversity. INTO CSU is a program designed to empower international students in their transition to academic life at the university: the Graduate Pathway scholarship, Pathway scholarship and Academic English scholarship. 

Students can improve their English language skills before the degree program begins. Merit-based scholarships are provided to incoming international students based on leadership potential, academic achievement and extracurricular activities, and there are several to choose from.
