The Eastern Institute of Technology is a higher education provider with campuses in Hawke’s Bay, Tairawhiti (Gisborne) and Auckland, New Zealand. Today, the institution offers over 150 courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently, this provider is ranked among the top two institutes of technology in New Zealand.
Students are made to feel welcome at the Eastern Institute and the Napier campus has many student-led activities throughout the year. Younited is the university’s student association, which leads welcome events so students can get to know each other upon arrival.
In addition, Younited provides orientation week for new students. Here, students can participate in games, head to live music events and receive free lunches. Throughout the year, Younited runs off-campus trips and events like cultural festivals, quizzes and sports outings.
The Eastern Institute of Technology has several high-quality facilities across its three campuses. First, the libraries offer study and research facilities for students, staff and the local community. Study areas provide a relaxed and friendly location, with individual and group options available. Also, students will find books, journals, newspapers, electronic resources, DVDs and CDs, computers, laptops and laptop connections at the libraries.
Furthermore, the three campuses have top-quality, subject-specific facilities. These include high-tech trade workshops, training kitchens and wine science and laboratories. For leisure time, students can visit one of the campuses’ many cafés and student training cafés. Here students will find affordable and varied food options in a sociable environment.
Currently, the Eastern Institute provides accommodation at the Te Pūkenga Student Village. This residence is opposite the Hawke’s Bay Campus.
Here, students will find self-catered accommodation in a complex of 12 villas. Six students have their own bedrooms. But they share facilities, including a lounge area, kitchen, dining space, bathroom and laundry equipment.
Alternatively, students can find homestay options off campus or shared and rented housing. The Eastern Institute has support staff who can guide students on where to find reliable off-campus accommodation.
With three campuses in New Zealand, students have different options when it comes to city life. The Eastern Institute of Technology campus in Auckland is in the business district. As a result, students can experience the city life of bars, cafes and restaurants. However, the campus is also close to the nearby mountains and beaches.
At the Napier campus in Hawkes Bay, students will find a city influenced by European and Spanish culture, while the weather is similar to the South of France. The city is also well known for its food. Students can find specialist seafood restaurants and local cuisine at one of the many restaurants. There are also opportunities for outdoor exploration and watersports year-round in Napier.
The Eastern Institute Of Technology is ranked 4067th in the QS World University Rankings.
