NorthTec is a post-secondary higher education provider in Northland, New Zealand. The provider has several campuses across Northland in Auckland, Whangarei, Kaikohe, Kaitaia, Kerikeri, and Dargaville.

Since opening in 1978, the institution has grown to offer courses at foundation, certificate, diploma and degree levels. Students can now access around 100 courses in subjects like Business, Computing and IT, Nursing, Teaching, Engineering and more.

Education at NorthTec is challenging, varied, and exciting. You can choose from a wide range of courses, from nursing to construction.

NorthTec’s Auckland International campus became the first centre in New Zealand to be approved by Immigration New Zealand for the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)

Across its several campuses, NorthTec has plenty of resources that students can access. At the main Whangarei campus, students will find a library with course books, computer resources and study areas. The campus also has fitness and gym facilities at its health centre. Students can also socialise at The Apprentice Restaurant and student cafe and take in cultural events at the Geoff Wilson Art Gallery.

City life

When students choose NorthTec, they can either stay in Auckland or Whangārei. Each location has different activities and appeals depending on what students want from their time at the institution. First, Auckland has a bustling, diverse community, where students can access local restaurants, cafes and bars that are influenced by the 200-plus ethnic groups living in the city. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to experience in and outside Auckland. Horse riding, hiking, paddle boarding and skiing are just a few options available.

Whangārei has more of a small-town feel, but there is still plenty to do and see in the city. Students can find authentic kiwi & Maori cultural experiences and explore the local beaches and nearby areas of natural beauty.

Employability

Students receive plenty of support and guidance in preparing for working life from NorthTec. Recently, 99% of students rated the skills and experience gained from their study programme, in preparation for their next step, as excellent or good. Whilst studying, students also get hands-on, practical learning opportunities through real-life projects. In addition, the teaching staff have lots of working experience and industry relationships across New Zealand.
