BA Family and Consumer Sciences - Fashion and Textiles

The different concentrations in Family & Consumer Sciences cover interdisciplinary subjects. The Human Development & Family Studies track concerns family services and consumer economics. The Food Service Management track involves institutional food administration and food science. The Textiles & Apparel track pertains to those materials’ design, production, distribution, and retailing. Finally, Secondary School Teacher Education is a co-major with Secondary Education & Youth Services.

Graduates often work in public and social institutions, such as consumer agencies, family services, departments of social welfare, hospitals and clinics, schools, and similar organizations. They may also work in the hospitality industry. Those who concentrate in textiles and apparel are found in the fashion industry, textile companies, fashion publications, historical societies, and the like.
