About the University

The University of Albany was established in 1884 and was the first educational institution to offer bachelor degree courses in New York in 1915. The university offers over 50 undergraduate and 125 postgraduate courses in various subject areas such as history, biology, languages, and neuroscience. With such vast experience, the university has perfected teaching methods to give its students top-quality education.

The University of Albany’s acceptance rate is 54.3%, but it can go up to 84.1% for early applications. The university is currently home to over 17,944 students.

Campus Life

The University of Albany has three campuses, an uptown campus, a downtown campus, and a health services campus. The downtown campus was opened in 1909, and the uptown campus was built in the 1960s, reflecting the traditionally grand architecture of the time period. The health services campus was recently opened. 

The university offers a variety of on-campus accommodation options including, co-ed dorms, sorority housing, student apartments, housing for differently-abled students, and theme housing.

Student life

One of the biggest highlights of studying at the University of Albany is its location. Studying in New York will give way to many internships and part-time opportunities, along with a great social life and nightlife. The university offers over 300 clubs and societies as extracurricular and recreational activities. There are multiple sports clubs that students can join too.
