These choices depend on evaluating costs, benefits, risks and effects on others. Economics at Glasgow dates back to Adam Smith, who was a Professor at the University in the 18th century and is widely renowned as the father of modern economics. **POLITICS**: - Politics is the study of the way power and influence are distributed within society and how this affects decision making within and among countries and states. You will study a wide variety of topics within the discipline of politics including courses in international relations, political theory and British politics taught by leading researchers in the field.
