MS Geography
Many problems facing society today have a geographical dimension. We offer a professional program and a research program, which apply geographic concepts and techniques to solve those problems.
By studying Geography at the University of North Texas, you learn to apply research methods and spatial and environmental problem-solving skills to:
- Address problems related to floods, droughts and other hazards
- Create plans for sustainable urban growth
- Evaluate effects of globalization and environmental change on human security
- Evaluate human impacts on ecosystems
- Find good locations and markets for business expansion
- Identify patterns in the spread of disease
- Plan and manage water, energy and other resources
You'll work with your major professor to construct a degree plan emphasizing a particular theme, such as:
- Applied Geomorphology
- GIS & Remote Sensing
- Business Geography
- Globalization, Development and Cities
- Health and Medical Geography
- Urban Environmental Management
- Water Resources Management
Other themes include cultural ecology, ecosystem geography, and energy geography.
