The University Of Prince Edward Island is a public university in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and was founded in 1969. However, its roots can be traced back to 1820 when Kent College was created as well s St Dunstan’s University in 1855 and Prince of Wales College in 1860. They were merged in 1969 to bring together the Island’s religious communities.

It has just over 5,000 students, 1,600 of which are international students from more than 90 countries around the world. In Maclean's 2022 Guide to Canadian Universities, the University of Prince Edward Island was ranked seventh for "primarily undergraduate" Canadian universities. It also came 34th in the country for reputation.
