Western New England University was first established in 1919, and became a university in 2011. Located in Springfield, Massachusetts, the university offers around 50 undergraduate majors and more than 20 graduate programs to students.

Springfield is informally known as a college town, meaning there are lots of fellow students to socialise with in nearby bars and restaurants. There are multiple museums, including the Springfield science museum, plus the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame that each celebrate a special part of Springfield history. Springfield has been voted among the top 100 best cities in the United States in which to live and the area is picturesque.

The 'YouAreWelcomeHere' scholarship recognises international students who have a vision for improving intercultural understanding and have shown leadership abilities through prior high school and community experiences.
