About the University

Wichita State University was established as Fairmount College in 1885. The university then became the Municipal University of Wichita in 1926 before finally changing its name to Wichita State University in 1964. 

The university offers over 120 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses with a vision to provide education while promoting multicultural growth. Course subject areas include arts, architecture, social sciences, business, management, engineering, technology, education, mathematics, computer science, hospitality, sports, medicine, journalism and law.

The acceptance rate of Wichita State University is around 55% and the university currently hosts over 16,000 students from over 115 countries.

Campus Life

Wichita State University has a 330-acre acre campus with fully equipped academic buildings, recreational and sports centres. With an average class strength of 20 students and a student to faculty ratio of 20:1, the university ensures that all its students get the needed attention from the faculty to learn and grow. 

The university offers on-campus accommodation through its many residence halls. Apart from this, students can also benefit from facilities like free on-campus Wi-Fi, cafeterias, student support centres, social hubs, and health care service centres.

Student life

Since the university is structured to offer a fun learning environment, students have many activities to choose from, starting with music, theatre, and dance, to sporting activities like football and volleyball. Wichita State University is located in a scenic hill spot ideal for long walks and drives to take the heat off. 

While on campus, students can easily socialise and mingle at the Rhatigan student centre located at the centre of the university. The university’s student affairs provides year-round guidance and support to give its students the best student life.
