Wichita State University was founded in 1886 as a private Congregational preparatory school for young ladies. Between 1895 and 1926 it was known as Fairmount College, after which it became the Municipal University of Wichita, finally gaining its current name in 1964. One of its claims to fame is housing the original building of the world’s first Pizza Hut restaurants on campus.

It currently has almost 17,000 students including more than 1,750 from 110 countries around the world. Wichita State University is ranked in the top 350 universities in the USA by the QS US UNI rankings. It’s also in the top 30 US colleges for engineering research and development and offers the only masters program in Innovation Design in the state of Kansas.
