Before we proceed with the registration process, it is important to understand the exam types. There are three types of the PTE exam: the PTE Academic, the PTE General, and the PTE Young Learner.

- The PTE Young Learner is taken by children aged 12 to 16. Students migrating with their parents take this test to continue their education abroad.

PTE exam registration for Academic and UKVI tests
Step 1: Open PTE's official website and create an account for online registration. Enter your details, such as name and date of birth, precisely as on your passport.
Step 2: Read the policies, terms and conditions in the next stage of the application. This is a crucial step to learning about any updates or changes in the test format.
Step 3: After signing in, click the "Schedule the exam" tab and select the PTE test date and the preferred test centre from the provided list. Once done, click the "Proceed to Checkout" option on the screen.
Step 4: Once you check out, you can see the final preview of the chosen PTE exam date, the test centre, the total fee, and the exam time. You can reschedule or cancel at this stage before making the payment. But taking these steps after paying the fee will incur cancelling or rescheduling costs.

PTE exam registration for General test
Step 1: Open PTE's official website. The PTE registration for the General test can be found on the qualifications page. Click on “Want to learn more about the online test? Find out more.”
Step 2: The link will take you to a new window, where you should choose “Book your test now.” You can select your level for PTE General and the format of the exam, online or offline, and proceed to search for available test appointments.
Step 3: Choose your preferred time zone, test date, and appointment time, and choose “Book this appointment.”
Step 4: Review your test details before signing in or creating an account. Provide the necessary information like username, email address, and password to create an account on the website.
Step 5: Fill in all the information like name, date of birth, country of birth and residence, first language, and your reason for taking the test, and click “Next.”
Step 6: Proceed to give your contact number and address. Click the check box below if you require accommodations for the test.
Step 7: Read the policies, terms and conditions and check the boxes before clicking "Agree."
Step 8: Candidates who take the test offline will be directed to a page to select their test location. Candidates taking the exam online can proceed to the payment page. Agree to the terms and conditions and proceed to the “Payment detail” page.
Step 9: Once you check out, you'll see the final preview of the selected exam date, the test centre, the total fee, and the exam time. You can reschedule or cancel at this stage before making the payment. But taking these steps after paying the fee will incur cancelling or rescheduling costs.

You can pay the PTE registration fee via credit cards like Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Visa debit cards. After payment, you will receive a confirmation to the registered mail ID with the chosen test date, time, and centre.
You should also pay the rescheduling and cancellation fees if you change or cancel the test date after completing registration for the PTE. If you cancel or reschedule before a week of the registered test date, you will get 25% of the test fee as a refund. But you cannot claim a refund if you are rescheduling or cancelling within a gap of 2-3 days for the test. You must pay the complete fee if you are rescheduling at this stage.
