Visa & mock interview preparation: what you need to know
Summarise or discuss this with AI
Getting your visa is an important step in your study abroad journey. Being prepared for both your financial documentation and compliance interview can help you avoid preventable issues and approach the process with confidence.
Start preparing for your mock interview
Once you receive your unconditional offer, it is time to start preparing for your mock compliance interview. These sessions are designed to give you an understanding of what to expect in a university or UKVI interview.
You may be assessed on:
- Your English language ability.
- Your knowledge of your chosen university.
- Your understanding of your course.
- Your reasons for choosing your course and study destination.
Edvoy provides three opportunities to clear the compliance interview. These are practice sessions and do not guarantee admission to your university.
How to prepare
Research your university, course and study destination thoroughly. Be clear about what you will study, why you chose the course and university, and how it fits into your plans. Most importantly, answer honestly and confidently rather than memorising responses.
Get your financial documents right
Your financial documents are another important part of your visa preparation. Once your funds are ready, you must upload your financial documents to the Edvoy portal before uploading them to the CAS Shield or sending them to the university.
Edvoy's Compliance team checks whether your documents meet UKVI requirements and verifies the availability of funds with the bank. CAS documents can only be uploaded to the Edvoy portal after this verification.
Small errors can have serious consequences. For example, students have faced visa refusals for holding the required funds for 27 days instead of 28, or having funds that were less than the required amount by under £50.

Prepare early, not at the last minute
Compliance preparation is now an important part of the student journey. Starting early gives you time to understand your requirements, organise your documents and prepare for your interview without unnecessary stress.
Know your course. Know your university. Check your finances. Be interview ready.
