Your application journey: Documents you'll need at every stage
Stage 1: Applying to university
This is where your study abroad journey begins. Your application should present a complete and accurate picture of your academic background.
Documents you'll need
- Valid passport
- Academic transcripts and certificates
- English language test scores (where applicable)
- Statement of Purpose (SOP)
- Letters of recommendation (if required)
- Portfolio or additional documents requested by your chosen university
Guidelines
- Ensure every document is genuine, complete and clearly legible.
- Make sure your name, date of birth and other personal details match across all documents.
- Submit all requested documents together to avoid delays in processing your application.
- Inform your counsellor if any information changes after submission.
Stage 2: Receiving and accepting your offer
Congratulations! Once you've received an offer, your university may request additional documents or ask you to fulfil certain conditions before confirming your place.
Documents you may need
- Updated academic documents
- Additional declarations or forms requested by the university
- Proof of any outstanding qualifications or requirements
Guidelines
- Respond promptly to requests from your university or counsellor.
- Keep copies of every document you submit.
- Ensure all information remains consistent with your original application.
This is also the stage where Edvoy will begin preparing you for the next phase of your journey through a Compliance Mock Interview.
Stage 3: Preparing for your Compliance Mock Interview
As part of Edvoy's enhanced student support process, you'll be invited to attend a mandatory Compliance Mock Interview before your visa application.
These sessions are designed to familiarise you with the types of questions you may be asked by your university or during UKVI interviews.
During your mock interview, you'll be asked about:
- Why you've chosen your university and course.
- Your academic background.
- Your career goals.
- Your understanding of studying in your chosen destination.
These are practice sessions designed to prepare you for future interviews. They do not guarantee admission to your chosen university, but they can help you approach the actual interview with greater confidence.
How to prepare
- Research your university and course thoroughly.
- Be clear about your reasons for studying abroad.
- Review the information you've submitted in your application.
- Attend your scheduled interview on time.
Stage 4: Preparing your financial documents
Financial documents play an important role in your visa application. Before your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is issued, your financial evidence must meet UKVI requirements.
Documents you'll need
- Bank statements.
- Financial sponsor documents (if applicable).
- Any additional financial evidence requested by your university or visa authorities.
Guidelines
- Upload your financial documents to the Edvoy portal before submitting them to your university.
- Ensure your funds meet UKVI requirements.
- Hold the required funds for the full required period before requesting your bank statement.
- Respond promptly if the Compliance team requests additional information.
As part of our compliance process, Edvoy reviews your financial documents against UKVI requirements and verifies them with the issuing bank before they are submitted. This helps identify potential issues early and reduces the risk of avoidable visa refusals.

Why these additional compliance checks matter
The UK government has introduced a new Red, Amber, Green (RAG) assessment framework for student sponsors. Under this framework, universities are assessed against Basic Compliance Assessment (BCA) metrics that include:
- A visa refusal rate below 5%
- A student enrolment rate of at least 95%
- A course completion rate of at least 85%, increasing to 90% from June 2027
These measures help ensure that international students are well prepared for their studies and that applications are genuine and complete.
Our aim is simple: to help you avoid preventable mistakes, reduce unnecessary delays and give you the best possible chance of a successful study abroad journey.
A little preparation today can make all the difference tomorrow.
