Introduction:

From teaching that draws on scenarios from the sport engineering industry to being involved in research from day one – you’ll experience teaching firmly focused on the real world.

The sport engineering industry looks to help solve problems associated with sports, health and exercise. It is a relatively new but rapidly expanding area which is attracting large interest and investment from professional sports clubs, sportswear and equipment manufacturers as well as health and wellbeing app and wearable technology developers.

Our industry projects and annual Grand Challenge are great ways to apply your skills and develop hands-on experience valued by employers. You will present your results at an end of year show before focusing on your individual research project.

Your individual project is part of the Master's level modules for the MEng qualification – developing your knowledge at the next level. We take this approach to make you think, work and behave like a professional engineer.

Thanks to our fantastic industry links in the sports and well-being sector, we bring sport engineering off the page.

You’ll benefit from excellent teaching. We are in the top 20 in the UK for teaching quality in general engineering (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022).

  • Top 20 in the UK for General Engineering (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023).
